Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Kerfuffle Canada Kerfuffle is a total love bug. When she was picked up at the shelter, she walked right over and offered the sweetest greeting—and she’s been cuddly and affectionate ever since. At first, you might not realize she spent weeks in the shelter because she’s so open and ready to love. Then you notice the way she looks at you, as if she’s quietly asking whether you’ll finally be the one who won’t let her go. Kerfuffle is a 4-year-old, 13 lb terrier mix who came into the shelter as a stray. Her family was located but ultimately chose not to come back for her, leaving her to wait and wonder if anyone would choose her. Despite that, she remains gentle, hopeful, and full of love. She hasn’t been in her foster home long, but she’s already shown herself to be kind and respectful with both people and other animals. She enjoys the company of the resident dogs and seems eager to play. She was briefly spooked by the cat once, but so far she’s chosen to ignore him. Kerfuffle loves walks and hikes with her people and is just as happy curling up on the couch afterward for a good TV binge. She’s quiet, sleeps through the night, does well on car rides, and appears to be crate trained. She’s showing signs of being house trained, though any new home comes with a short adjustment period. She’s a smart girl who truly wants to make her family happy. Adoption details: Kerfuffle is being fostered in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is available as a foster-to-adopt if her new family is willing to bring her to our vet in Pittsburg, CA for her spay surgery. She is also available for adoption if her new family is willing to arrange and cover the cost of her spay with their own veterinarian. Her adopter will be a very lucky person—Kerfuffle Canada is ready to give her whole heart to the family who chooses her. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
