Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Linda has one of the most powerful transformations we’ve ever witnessed. When she came to us over four months ago, she was more shut down and terrified than any dog we had ever met, so fearful with fur overgrown & severely matted, she was almost unrecognizable as a dog. Years of neglect left her painfully matted, and under anesthesia, more than three pounds of fur were removed from her tiny 12 pound body. What remained was a fragile soul who had learned the world was not a safe place. Slowly and with incredible patience, Linda’s foster has earned her trust. Watching her emerge has been nothing short of extraordinary. From hiding in fear to now occasionally choosing to sit on laps, Linda continues to show us just how much resilience lives inside her. Linda does best with another dog in the home. She warms up to dogs much faster than people and finds comfort, confidence, and joy in their presence. Her canine companion doesn’t need to be overly confident, but they cannot be shut down or fearful. Linda enjoys play and has recently become the instigator of playtime with her foster siblings which was a huge milestone for her! A dog sibling should be respectful and not overbearing. She has discovered the simple pleasures in life and loves them deeply: Squeaky toys are her absolute favorite ️ Food and treats make her world go round, mealtime and snack time are the best parts of her day ️ Soft beds and blankets are a must (bonus points for a warm blanket fresh out of the dryer) Linda is crate trained, and a crate will be required in her new home as it serves as her safe retreat. She is housebroken and pee pad trained, though if she’s feeling especially upset, she may intentionally choose a spot she shouldn’t. Linda has opinions and isn’t afraid to express them. Linda will need a family with plenty of patience and realistic expectations. She warns when she’s uncomfortable, and it’s very important her signals are respected. If those warnings are ignored, she may lash out, but she always communicates first. Trust will not be instant, but for the right family, it will be deeply rewarding. Linda does not yet have leash experience due to her extreme fear. For that reason we will require a secured fenced area. Linda is just over 2 years old and still learning that love can be safe, gentle, and permanent. She is not for everyone, but for the right home, she will be a truly special companion.
