Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). 1 year old (estimated) Neutered male Has done well with other dogs at the shelter Has done well with kids at the shelter No known experience with cats Fredrick is a fun spirited and friendly boy who brings joy wherever he goes. He knows sit, walks well on leash, and loves going on walks and playing with toys, especially if he gets to make a little mess along the way. He has a playful personality, a big heart, and a special love for snowy days, making him a wonderful addition for a family looking for an active and happy companion. My adoption fee has been paid by a generous member of our community! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
