Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. I need some help. We have come to the conclusion that our dog Roxy is not a good fit for our home. We have had her for 3 years and it has been a challenge the whole time. She does not enjoy being in a home with other pets and small kids. She would be so much happier as an only pet and with no small kids. She is fine with older kids though. Her ideal situation would be as an only dog. She's a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mixed with some other stuff. We do not know exactly how old she is, but she's around 5 years and weighs 8 pounds. She is house broken and leash trained. She’s a Very sweet lap dog and would be a perfect companion dog for someone **** Breed: Chihuahua mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2193206&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
