Dog Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier. Quote from foster family: “Bijou loves everyone she meets, has master snuggling capabilities, and thoroughly enjoys being with her humans. She already knows the commands sit, paw, down, wait, and leave it, and is highly treat motivated, which helps with her continued training. Woof-Facts Name: Bijou Breed: Mixed breed Weight: 52 lbs Age: 3 years old Gender: Female Health: Already spayed; up to date on vaccines More Info: Bijou has that playful puppy energy yet she is easily redirected. She can play somewhat rough with her toys, such as tug-of-war, however, she’ll drop her toy graciously when corrected. She’s vocal when playing, which we find to be quite adorable! Bijou has shown no aggression whatsoever to humans and other dogs. Forever home recommendations: Bijou needs physical exercise and mind-stimulation engagement, so she’ll need a home that will provide that. Please know that she’s not always in go-mode – she’s pretty much equal parts snuggle and play. Kids: Bijou has not yet been around children. Due to her strength, we feel a home with older kids could be a fit. Dogs: Dog friendly Cats: Uncertain, can continue to explore if she is cat friendly Crate trained: Yes House trained: Yes Leash manners: Walks well on a leash; may occasionally get a bit excited and jump up at the leash while being is easily corrected Personality: Loves everyone she meets How did Bijou find herself at Rescue Haven Foundation: Bijou somehow ended up at a local city shelter, and Rescue Haven Foundation took her under their wing and is searching Bijou’s forever family.

They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred.
