Description
Dog Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Meet Kirby — a handsome, freckle-faced Brittany with a heart that just needs the right person to unlock it. Hello everyone, my name is Kirby. I was a stray, but I haven’t let that dull my sparkle. I’m a 4-year-old, 43-lb orange and white, freckled, neutered Brittany, and I’m ready to find my forever human. I can be a little anxious when I first meet new people, but give me a bit of patience and kindness and you’ll see the real me shine through. Once I feel safe, I turn into a playful, snuggly, very sweet boy. One of my absolute favorite things? When you come into the yard with me—I get so excited because time together is my favorite thing. I’m more of a “my space matters” kind of guy. I’ve been around other dogs and do just fine as long as they respect my boundaries. I don’t fence fight, I don’t cause drama, and honestly, I seem pretty content doing my own thing. Because of that, I may be happiest as your one-and-only best friend, soaking up all your love. I’m a very good kennel boy too—especially compared to most rescues. I rarely have accidents and have never messed my kennel, which tells you I’m trying really hard to be the good boy I am (solid 8/10, if I do say so myself ). What do I need to be happy? A secure fenced yard Toys (yes please!) Rawhides (my weakness) Cookies, belly rubs, and lots of love And most importantly… my person If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle, affectionate Brittany who will bond deeply with you and be your constant companion, Kirby just might be your guy. Give him a chance, and he’ll give you his whole heart Ready to meet your new best friend? Kirby is waiting. The adoption fee for OK/Kirby, who lives in Tulsa, OK is $400, which helps to offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. Overview:
The Brittany is a beloved and versatile gun dog, originating from the Brittany province of France in the 17th century. These medium-sized dogs are instantly recognizable by their athletic build, often appearing leggy and agile, with a dense, flat or wavy coat that comes in orange and white, or liver and white. Their intelligent and eager-to-please nature makes them incredibly trainable and responsive. Temperamentally, Brittanys are known for being friendly, energetic, and affectionate, making them excellent companions for active families. While their moderate size might suggest apartment living, their high energy levels and need for regular exercise mean they thrive best in homes with a yard or access to plenty of outdoor space. Generally a healthy breed, they can be predisposed to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and sometimes epilepsy, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. With proper training and socialization, a Brittany will undoubtedly enrich the lives of its devoted family.
