Description
Dog Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $250.00. Hobo was trying to hop a train in Meridian, Mississippi, but got rescued instead. He has the most adorable little squishy face and such a sweet and gentle disposition. His rescue pictures gave evidence that he had been a little hobo beagle for quite some time and we were amazed at his color change after his bath! Now he is ready to become accustomed to the comforts of home, eager to please, learning house manners and and likes getting affection and pets. He prefers to be by you and touching you but not right in your lap. His foster mom says Hobo is good about coming when called - rare for a beagle - and follows her around the house and yard. Things are going well with the other dogs and cat in his foster home. With new people he can be a little standoffish and shy at first, but is tolerant and warms up. He sleeps well throughout the night usually on a dog bed, but also couch, crate, or on the bed with his humans. Hobo has no anxiety when his family is gone, although he does try to follow them when they are leaving. He has been crated with the door shut for maybe 3 or 4 hours at most. He's a lower energy pup who just needs is fairly calm home and some patient folks to show him love - wouldn't you love to give him a home? He is heartworm negative and ready for a sleepover with you!

Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
