Banana is a nine-month old, eight-pound adorable Chihuahua mix who loves her toys, treats, and humans. She actively watches TV and loves to follow you around the house. She worships the sun and enjoys snuggling close in bed where she can feel the warmth of your body. She prefers and thrives in a quiet environment. Thus far Banana sees the world as a scary place and may take considerable time to adjust to outside environments. It is important to note when scared Banana wants to take flight, so she is considered a flight risk requiring diligence to keep her secure when outside the confines of your home. Banana is making progress with potty training learning to use pads. If you have a secure small back yard that would help with her training progress. Banana gets along with other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog for support however not essential. Banana has shown no signs of aggression and would most likely do well with older children. Due to Banana’s anxiety introductions will be made at the foster’s home by appointment. With patience and Banana’s trust she will make an amazing addition to your family! Banana is up to date on her shots, micro chipped, and spayed, she is ready to find her forever home. Her adoption fee is $350. A refundable training deposit of $100 will be also due upon adoption. Training must be provided in a timely fashion to ensure our pups become the best canine citizens. The training deposit will be refundable within 3 months of the adoption date. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
