Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Sweet, soft and silly are the three words my foster mom uses to describe me! I’m Lady Luna and I’m a 2 year old female shepherd mix looking for my forever home! I’m on the smaller side for a shepherd, at only about 35lbs. I have super soft fur that is perfect for cuddling, and I am low shed! (I do shed a little, but is it much less than your typical long haired breed). I love to cuddle and get belly rubs from my people. I’m shy around new people, but warm up after a few minutes. I’m good with other dogs and I’m learning what a cat is and am very interested in trying to play with the one in my foster home. He unfortunately doesn’t want to play back. There is a small human in my home that I love, but I sometimes forget my manners and jump on him, so older kids might be better for me. My foster mom thinks I mostly lived outside in the past as being inside the house was very scary at first. But I get a little more confident every day, and have discovered couches are super fun to be on! I haven’t had any accidents in the house and I am quiet in my crate at night and during the day when needed. I LOVE to be outside with you to play and train. I’m learning to walk well on a leash and that new places are not scary. I have a lot of the shepherd goofball energy, but can also settle and cuddle. I’m building my confidence to be able to go on adventures. The car is scary, but I’m getting more used to it. With some more training, consistent exercise and mental stimulation my foster says I’ll be a fantastic dog. Apply to meet me today at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
