Description
Dog Breed: Greater Swiss Mountain Dog (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Are you looking for a beautiful adventure buddy? Well, you've found the right gal! Meet Cashmeere! This spontaneous 1.5 yr old greater swiss mountain dog mix would absolutely love to join you on your hike, walk, bike ride, jog, or however you like to spend your outdoor days! She's a long legged girl that weighs just under 50 lbs now, but could put on a little bit more weight. Cashy (as we like to call her) is very smart and loves learning new things. It is recommended to continue crating and obedience training with her forever family. As per her breed, she is very active and would be best in a home with equally active people, willing to give her the physical and mental exercise she needs. Doing further research into her breeds would be highly recommended if you're interested. She is potty trained and crate trained, and great with dogs, people and kids. Does she sound like the right fit for you? Apply to meet Cashmeere today at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Overview:
The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, or "Swissie," is a magnificent and ancient breed with roots tracing back to the Swiss Alps, where they served as all-purpose farm dogs, herding livestock, guarding property, and pulling carts. Physically, they are large, powerful canines distinguished by their striking tricolored coat—black with rich rust and white markings—and a sturdy, muscular build. Their expression is often described as intelligent and gentle, reflecting their inherent nature. Temperamentally, Swissies are known for being devoted, good-natured, and confident, making them excellent family companions when properly socialized. While adaptable, their size and need for moderate exercise mean they are generally better suited for homes with yards rather than small apartments, though they are calm indoors. They thrive on human companionship and are typically good with children and other pets, displaying a patient demeanor. As with many large breeds, potential owners should be aware of health considerations such as hip and elbow dysplasia, and bloat, requiring responsible breeding and veterinary care.
