Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Cornelius was found wearing an e-collar but sadly had no owner information attached, and no one ever came forward to claim him. Now heâs ready to find a fresh start with a family who wonât let him go. This handsome, lower energy guy is a leash walking pro, making outings relaxed and enjoyable. He takes treats gently from your hand and even showed off a âsitâ on command a couple of times (though he needs more practice to really master it - he's a bit inconsistent at the moment). Cornelius loves attention and will happily stand calmly by your side soaking up pets. If youâre busy, heâs perfectly content to do his own thing and quietly hang out nearby too. When it comes to toys, heâll chase after them if you toss one, but heâs not too interested in playing once he gets there. He tends to have a lower energy level...except when other dogs are around. He tends to be very playful with other dogs, and enjoys their company. Overall, Cornelius is a gentle, easygoing companion who would thrive in a home looking for a laid back buddy. Come meet this sweet boy and see if heâs the missing piece to your family.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
