Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. We adopted Fancy when she was 14 weeks old. She is now 6. Because of COVID, she was not around people and other pets growing up. This made her very protective of us and our home. This is my 1st dog. She was primarily my husband's dog, but he passed away in June, 2025. I now have severe medical conditions and the 2 people that usually care for her while I'm in the hospital are no longer available, so when I am hospitalized she is left alone. I am trying to surrender her because I don't feel this is a good situation for her. It'll take time and patience or her to get close to other people, but she is well worth the time. She is lovable and would make a good companion. She'd love to cuddle next to you on a chair and sleep next to you at night. She enjoys playing indoors with you** and outdoors with other dogs. She has never been around other types of animals or children. Scratch her ears and she'll love you forever!! I love her with all my heart, but I can't see that her being home alone is good for her.I am having surgery on February 20, 2026 and would like her to find a new8 home by then if at all possible.* **** Breed: Border Collie Mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2193240&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
