Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Handsome Mufasa is a fun, good‑energy 3.5‑year‑old who absolutely LOVES going for walks in his foster home. — he’s fantastic on leash and would make an excellent walking buddy. He’s also obsessed with fetch and will happily play as long as you’re willing. Mufasa is very timid at first, but once he trusts you, he becomes incredibly loving. He gives kisses, sits right beside you, and gets so excited to see his people. He’s gentle with kids, loves being petted, knows “sit,” and responds well to direction. His former family shared that he can be timid around other dogs, and based on what we’ve seen, he will do best as the only dog in the home. With his sweet nature and eagerness to please, Mufasa is ready to be someone’s loyal companion.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
