Tinsel Toes | 5-year-old mixed breed | Velcro cuddle bug with a gentle heart Tinsel Toes is a five-year-old mixed-breed girl weighing about 52 pounds, with a beautiful black-and-white coat and an affectionate, easygoing personality. She is a calm, sweet, and friendly dog who truly loves being close to her people and prefers to be right by your side whenever possible. With a low-to-medium energy level, Tinsel Toes enjoys a nice long walk but is just as content spending the day napping on the couch and soaking up affection. She is house trained and does a great job letting her people know when she needs to go outside by standing at the door. That said, as with any dog transitioning to a new home, occasional accidents can happen while she adjusts to a new environment and routine. On leash, she generally does well, though she may pull a bit when squirrels or especially rowdy dogs catch her attention. She has been left home alone while crated for six to eight hours and has done wonderfully, settling in without issue. While she may need a little encouragement to enter her kennel, she relaxes once inside and quietly entertains herself with toys. Tinsel Toes has had positive interactions with other dogs and enjoys their company. She has not yet met cats or children, but she is friendly, approachable, and shows no preference between men and women. She knows basic commands such as come, sit, and stay, responds well to structure and boundaries, and is motivated by both food and love. She loves toys, especially squeaky ones, enjoys chewing on bones, and has been gentle with her stuffed toys so far. Some of her endearing habits include resting her head on you, offering a paw to ask for affection, and happily rolling over for belly rubs. Tinsel Toes would thrive in a home where she can be close to her people, enjoy daily walks, and relax in a calm, loving environment. She may do well as an only dog or in a home with other canine companions who appreciate a friendly, affectionate friend. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
