Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Cruz â a small, long-haired mystery mutt wrapped in black, brown, and white fabulousness. He is a terrier mix who looks like a weenie dog and an Australian Shepherd had a very stylish baby. While we can only guess Cruzâs breed, we do know he is 100% adorable. Cruz LOVES to play, snuggle like itâs his full-time job, and give kisses whether you asked for them or not. Heâs basically a tiny circus performer who knows sit, down, up, roll over, and even âdance.â But fair warning: if you ask him to perform without paying him in treats, he will scold you with a bark. Cruz believes in fair wages. At night, Cruz is a sleep-through-the-night, snuggle-certified bed hog who sleeps peacefully beside you like heâs been paying rent for years. During the day, heâs all about tug-o-war and fetch with his beloved toys, which he refers to exclusively as his âbabies.â He walks nicely on a leash and will proudly accompany you on strolls like the loyal sidekick he is. He also does well in public on outings, recognizing when you ask if he wants to âgo for a car ride.â His favorite treats while out are pup cups, puppy patties from In-n-Out, or a lunch plate from Lazy Dog. Now, letâs talk about Cruzâs personality quirks, because no legend is without them. Cruz is vocalânot yappy, but expressive. He will let you know when heâs hungry, needs to go outside, or requires immediate admiration. Heâs a bit needy, gets sad when you leave, and takes some time to self-soothe. He is not crate trained, because frankly, Cruz believes crates are beneath him. If youâre looking for a low-maintenance, emotionally distant dog⦠keep scrolling. But if you want a funny, dramatic, affectionate little shadow who will love you loudly, snuggle you intensely, and demand snacks with convictionâCruz might just be your soulmate. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
