Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Penelope seems to have settled in and is doing really well in her foster home, so she is ready to find her forever home! A little bit about her, she likes to snuggle us and our dogs, especially under blankets, that seems to be her favorite spot. She’s been going to the bathroom outside, with her fosters watching her very closely. She's had a rough start to life so she doesn't quite understand play but she does like to carry socks around (not chew, just hold.) Penelope is quite the little lady and is ready to live in a home with patient people and another dog that would suit her best. Penelope is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, started on monthly flea and heartworm prevention and her adoption fee is $300. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
