Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Located at our Evansville, IN location, Barkley is a 3-year-old brown Labrador with a big heart and an even bigger personality. He knows how to sit and shake, is house trained, leash trained—he’s so smart and attentive. Barkley is very playful and absolutely loves his toys, but what he loves most is being with his people. He’s a classic shadow dog who follows you from room to room and doesn’t enjoy being alone. He’s incredibly cuddly and truly a gentle giant, with just the right amount of protective instinct. Barkley will happily let you know when someone comes down the driveway, then immediately switch into full excitement mode when he meets them—because in his mind, everyone loves him (and they usually do). He listens well, is eager to please, and is highly treat motivated, especially when rewarded with his favorite rawhide-free sticks after potty breaks or good behavior. Barkley also loves car rides and is convinced he should be the driver, often perched proudly on the armrest of an SUV. Sweet, loyal, and full of joy, Barkley would thrive in a home where he can be close to his people and included in everyday life. All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary.
