Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed. Pennington County Humane Society Oreo's story started with a few bumps in the road. She came to us after a rough start and faced some medical challenges, but this brave girl never stopped trying. With proper care and a whole lot of resilience, she's now fully cleared and ready for her next chapter. Despite everything she's been through, Oreo is a friendly, happy girl who greets people with gentle enthusiasm and a hopeful spirit. She doesn't have much experience living in a home yet, but she's eager to learn and even more eager to please. With patience, routine, and kindness, she'll blossom into a loyal, loving companion. Oreo is available for foster-to-adopt, direct adoption, or transfer to a foster-based partner. However, you're able to help her take the next step, she's ready to meet you with gratitude and a wagging tail. Contact Pennington County Humane Society at 218‑681‑8045 for more information. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
