Cleo is a gentle, sweet-natured girl with a quiet charm. She’s shy and timid at first, especially in new situations, but with patience and reassurance she warms up and shows her loving, playful side. Once she trusts you, Cleo truly enjoys attention and being close to her people. She would do best in a calm home and would absolutely love having a confident doggie sibling to help her feel secure and show her the ropes. Cleo enjoys playtime and gains confidence by following another dog’s lead, so we are looking for a home with another dog. Cleo is crate trained and dog door trained, and does well with routine. She’s looking for a home with no cats or young children, where she can relax and feel safe. If you’re searching for a gentle companion who just needs a little encouragement and a lot of love, Cleo could be the perfect fit. With the right home, she’ll reward you with loyalty, sweetness, and playful moments that make her shine. Cleo’s adoption fee: $500 We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found. Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy. While they are intelligent, their independent nature can make training a delightful challenge. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them well-suited for apartment living, and they can be wonderful companions for families, though early socialization is key, especially with children and other pets. Regarding health, their unique body shape predisposes them to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so careful handling and weight management are crucial.
