Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet COWBOY We pulled Cowboy from the shelter last Tuesday and he’s already settling into foster life like a total pro. This sweet baby is just 9 months old, an excellent listener and mastered potty training in just a few short days. Cowboy is super cuddly, incredibly affectionate and happiest when he’s right by his foster mom’s side. Simply put—this boy just wants to be loved and give love in return. His confidence is growing every day and we think he’d thrive in a home with another dog to show him the ropes, not to mention he genuinely enjoys spending time with his foster sis and bro. Next Thursday, Cowboy will be neutered and officially cleared for adoption. Who’s going to be the lucky family to welcome this love bug into their home?

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
