Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Meet Sunny! Sunny is an estimated 2–3-year-old Pit mix with ears that point straight to the sky and an inquisitive personality that comes with the most adorable head tilts. Though he’s still new to us, it didn’t take long to see how much he loves people and how quickly he seeks comfort and reassurance from his humans. Sunny’s people are his safe place. He has shown some hesitancy around select men, so slow, patient introductions will be important with any male adopters. That said, he has also interacted comfortably with other men, so a male household is not automatically off-limits—just one that understands the value of letting trust grow at Sunny’s pace. During formal dog testing, Sunny was tested with a much larger, more boisterous male. He coexisted but was more nervous and preferred less interaction. He was much more confident and comfortable with both a male and female dog of similar size and energy level. Sunny will need formal cat testing before placement to ensure a safe match. As we continue to learn more about Sunny’s favorite things and ideal home environment, we’ll keep his profile updated. One thing is already clear: Sunny is a thoughtful, sensitive boy with so much love to give. Current Weight: 46lbs Adoption Fee: $250 To Apply: .fcrspca/adopt

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
