Description
Dog Breed: English Mastiff / Great Dane. Meet Elmo Meet Elmo, a sweet 6-month-old Mastiff/Dane mix puppy with a heart as big as his paws! Elmo is a social, happy boy who already knows some basic commands. He’s house trained, walks well on a leash, and is currently in a foster home where we’re continuing to learn more about his personality. Elmo came into rescue when his mom sadly lost her housing and could no longer keep a growing giant-breed puppy. Despite the change, Elmo has stayed true to his puppy nature—active, playful, and full of joy. He does great with kids and would love a home that’s ready to keep up with a fun, energetic puppy and help him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a sweet, social pup to add to your family, Elmo might be your guy! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
