Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed. Meet Dixie Dixie is a beautiful Cattle Dog weighing about 45 pounds and around 2 years old. She’s an amazing mama who raised 11 puppies, and now that her job is done, it’s finally her turn to find a loving forever home. Dixie is a super sweet, gentle soul who is very laid-back and a bit timid at first. She listens extremely well and lextremdlt smart! Leashes are still a mystery to her—she doesn’t quite understand them yet and may cry when one is on—but with patience and reassurance, she’ll continue to learn. So for now, a fenced yard is a must for her. She loves having room to roam and would thrive in a home where she can stretch her legs and enjoy her surroundings. Dixie does wonderfully running on the farm at her foster home and shows no interest in horses or cats. She also does well with other dogs. Dixie is a loyal, quiet, and affectionate dog who would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a calm, devoted friend with a gentle heart. After everything she’s done for her pups, she’s ready to be someone’s everything. One important note: Dixie loves chickens --a little too much, so a chicken-free home is a MUST for this girl (she’s made that very clear ). Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
