Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Pug / Mixed. Noggin is a happy, playful guy with a big personality and an even bigger love for toys. If there’s a ball involved, he’s in—fetch is his absolute favorite, and he’ll happily keep the game going as long as you’re willing to throw. Noggin would thrive in a home where his people are around most of the time, especially if that home comes with a solid toy collection. He’d likely enjoy having other dogs to play with and would probably do great with kids too. When meeting new people, Noggin may give a little growl at first, but don’t worry—he warms up quickly and is soon back to being his fun, affectionate self. He’s looking for a family who will give him time to settle in, plenty of playtime, and lots of love. Noggin is ready to bring joy, laughs, and nonstop fetch into his forever home. Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview
Overview:
The "Chug," a delightful crossbreed of the Chihuahua and Pug, originated from the desire to combine the best traits of both beloved parent breeds. Physically, Chugs typically inherit a compact build, weighing between 10-20 pounds, with a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors, often displaying the Pug's characteristic wrinkled face and the Chihuahua's expressive eyes. Their temperament is generally a charming mix of the Pug's affectionate and playful nature with the Chihuahua's spirited and loyal disposition, making them wonderful companions. Chugs are highly adaptable, excelling in both apartment living and homes with families, including those with older children, though early socialization is key. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of predispositions to respiratory issues (due to their brachycephalic features), patellar luxation, and eye conditions, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
