Description
Dog Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. Tansy is a joyful, high-energy girl who truly loves life and brings enthusiasm into everything she does. She is playful, spirited, and always ready to be part of the action, especially when other dogs are getting attention. If she feels left out, she can be a bit vocal—treating you to some very cute howls and barks—but she settles down quickly once she’s reassured. When held, Tansy melts right into cuddle mode and enjoys being close to her people. Like many young, energetic pups, Tansy is still learning the difference between what is appropriate to chew on and what is not, so she will benefit from continued supervision, consistency, and plenty of appropriate chew toys. She is doing well with both crate training and potty training and is showing great progress as she learns household routines. Tansy has been around a small dog and cats and has done well with both. She could live in a home with small children but would need close supervision as she continues learning good chewing habits and appropriate play. With her loving nature, cuddly side, and zest for life, Tansy will thrive in an active home that’s ready to guide her energy and enjoy her affectionate, fun-loving personality.

Overview:
The American Staffordshire Terrier, often affectionately called an "AmStaff," is a breed with a fascinating history, originating in 19th-century England and later refined in the United States. Physically, they are medium-sized, muscular, and agile dogs, known for their powerful build and distinctive wide smile. Their short, stiff coat comes in a variety of colors and patterns. In terms of temperament, AmStaffs are generally intelligent, confident, and highly loyal to their families. They possess a strong desire to please and can be quite affectionate. While they can make excellent family companions and often get along well with children, early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strength and inherent protective instincts. They are adaptable and can thrive in various living situations, including apartments, as long as they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. Health-wise, they are generally robust, but some individuals may be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions.
