Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat). Location: Alexandria, VA Meet Heath — Your Velcro Adventure Buddy Heath is an ~18-month-old neutered male who’s up to date on all vaccines and currently fostered in Alexandria, VA. This handsome guy is full of playful energy and even more love. His favorite place in the world? Right next to his person — preferably curled up close for maximum snuggle time. Heath is an active pup who loves to play and would thrive with a family ready to include him in daily life, adventures, and couch cuddles alike. He forms strong bonds and truly just wants to be where his human is. He can be a little shy at first, especially with new people, and tends to be more cautious around men. But give him a little patience and a gentle approach, and he warms up quickly into the affectionate, loyal sweetheart he really is. With the right person who understands that trust takes a moment to build, Heath will be an incredibly devoted, loving companion. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
