Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Sweet Panda When Panda arrived at the high capacity shelter, she was so scared she belly-crawled everywhere. Big eyes, shaking body, unsure if she was safe. Now? She’s ripping zoomies through her foster home like she just discovered joy for the very first time. And the best part? She smiles. A real, happy, “look at me now” smile that makes every hard moment worth it. She still has moments where she’ll cower—but just as quickly, she pops right back up, smiling and ready to try again. Panda is brave in the softest, sweetest way. Why we adore her: • Gentle and loving • Great with other dogs • Wonderful with children • Shy at first, but full of sunshine once she feels safe Age: Panda’s age was left completely blank when she came to us, so we’re making our best guess for now. Once she’s spayed, our vet will help us narrow it down. Medical update: Panda came to us with very sore, swollen ears and uncomfortable skin. She’s currently on a medical hold while we heal her ears, get her skin healthy, and then schedule her spay. How you can help Panda: Her care takes time, patience, and medical support. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
