Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed (medium coat). Please contact Paul Slebzak (paulsluckydoganimalrescue) for more information about this pet. little guy looking for a home! TRENT NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Trent Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua/Dachshund mix Best Guess for Age: 4 years old as of February 2026 SEX: male Approximate Weight: 18 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen Trent with cats but he can be tested. Currently Living at: DC area foster home. Special adoption considerations: We would be cautious placing Trent in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Trent is Looking For: His forever home. This sweetie ended up in a shelter through no fault of his own - and he's closed that chapter. He's eager to once again have his own humans for long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. A cushy dog bed, quality kibble, lots of snugs - yep, all on his wish list too. But he knows what's most important in life: To be safe and loved and under his own roof. What My Foster Says About Me: Trent is the best boy! His personality matches his cuteness! He is a super snuggler but also loves walks. He has the cutest little bounce in his walk, and sometimes gets the zoomies too! He has a good appetite and is treat-motivated so training would be a breeze. He’s a great sleeper and the best companion. He gets along with our dog and rarely barks at anything. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Breed overview
Overview:
The Chiweenie, an adorable and increasingly popular designer breed, is a delightful cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the charming Dachshund. Originating in the United States, these small companions inherited a unique blend of traits from their parent breeds. Physically, they typically possess a long, low body reminiscent of the Dachshund, combined with the often-large ears and expressive eyes of the Chihuahua. Their coats can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to long and wiry. Temperamentally, Chiweenies are known for being loyal, affectionate, and surprisingly energetic. They often exhibit a playful and sometimes stubborn streak, making early socialization and training beneficial. Their small size makes them well-suited for apartment living and families with older children or individuals seeking a devoted lapdog. While generally robust, potential health considerations include issues common to their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation and intervertebral disc disease, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
