Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Adoptions (adoptionsthalppc) for more information about this pet. Junie is ~ 3 years old Pitbull mix girl with pretty brindle coloring. She originally tested positive for heartworms which is no surprise since she had probably never seen a vet before...but as of July 22nd, 2025, she has completed her heartworm treatment, has tested negative, and is now CURED!!! Now that she is heartworm negative, she can be officially adopted. Junie is one of the happiest dogs you will ever meet! She ALWAYS has a smile on her face and is excited for every part of every day. Junie was rescued when she was found sitting in the middle of the road. Her rescuer pulled her car over and she jumped right in. Her ribs and backbone were showing and we had to start her off with small meals as she devoured her food very quickly. We cannot overstate the importance of heartworm preventive. Giving your dogs monthly preventive is THE BEST way to defend against heartworms. The adoption fee is $135 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption at local participating vets, up to date vaccinations, test for heartworms & heartworm preventative medication, dewormer, flea preventative, microchip, & spay or neuter. We're open Wednesday - Sunday 12 - 5 p.m but doing adoptions and meet & greets by appointment only. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
