Description

Dog Breed: Pug (short coat). June found herself at an animal shelter in northern Indiana along with her best buddy Johnny due to no fault of their own. June is a super tiny energetic pug. Incredibly loving and very attached to her humans. Unfortunately, June had some eye problems in her past, and is mostly blind. She will require a home with no access to stairs, drop offs, moving furniture etc. The veterinarian says that June’s eyes are not painful to her and no treatment is directed at this time. June loves to go potty outside on a leash, and excels at finding a potty pad most of the time indoors. Her potty training will be an ongoing journey. June had 17 teeth extracted and several large masses removed a few weeks ago. No cancer was found, and no further treatment is recommended. Her foster does soak June’s dry kibble in water so it is easier for her to chew, but canned food would be fine for her as well. June has an unusually cute face with two different size eyes, a cute lower canine tooth that sticks out and a funny little walk that is very endearing! June does fine with my pugs and would do great with other calm dogs. June needs a low energy household as far as other pets and kiddos go. When her foster is at work June stays in a small portable fenced in area in my living room with her buddy Johnny. Please consider June to be the next new member of your family. She is truly a one of a kind, and will be yours to keep safe and to give you all the love in the world! *Bonded with Johnny and they must be adopted together!*

Overview:

The Pug, a charming and ancient breed, boasts a fascinating history believed to originate in China as early as 206 BC. Known for its distinctive flat, wrinkled face, large, expressive eyes, and tightly curled tail, the Pug's compact, muscular build is instantly recognizable. Despite their somewhat serious expression, Pugs are famously friendly, playful, and affectionate companions, often described as "clowns" due to their comedic antics. Their relatively low exercise requirements and adaptability make them excellent pets for apartment dwellers and devoted family members, thriving on human companionship. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, primarily their susceptibility to respiratory issues due to their brachycephalic (short-nosed) structure, as well as potential eye problems and joint conditions. With proper care and attention, the Pug offers years of unwavering loyalty and delightful companionship.
