Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 550.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Zelle, or cash only. donateyorkierescuehouston or, if you prefer: our fundraising platform, Zeffy Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. This little girl was surrendered to our rescue by her family when they realized she needed more time than they had to devote to her. She was very needy and lonely. She was behind on vaccines and needed to be treated for hookworms. Since being in our program, she has learned how to play with other dogs and entertain herself with toys. She still loves attention, but does not 'suffer' without it. We would love to find Cinny a home with another young SMALL dog who loves to play. She still doesn't have potty training down yet. She does NOT like to sleep alone and prefers to go to bed with her people. (in a diaper, please!)

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
