Description
Dog Breed: Poodle (Standard) / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (long coat). Adoption Fee: $699. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue:1/17/2026 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Dagwood is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Dagwood is a labradoodle. He is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Weight: 59 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes. Adoption Fee: $699 Fence needed? Yes, Dagwood requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. Dagwood has always lived in a home with a fenced yard and will require a standard, secure fence for safe exercise and play. This space will allow him to burn energy, explore confidently, and enjoy outdoor time without stress. What kind of home would be best for me? Dagwood does wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys their company, though he could also succeed as an only dog in the right home. Because he has never lived as a household pet before, he will need time, patience, and understanding as he learns what home life is all about. A family willing to move at his pace and gently guide him through new experiences will help him thrive. We believe Dagwood would do best in a calm, low-key home with older, respectful children who understand how to give him space when needed One important consideration for Dagwood is his fear of car rides. This fear is significant - so much so that it has caused stress-related fevers in the past. He will need an adopter who is committed to helping him work through this fear with patience, consistency, and positive experiences. Avoiding car rides altogether will not help him overcome this challenge; instead, he needs a family dedicated to making the car a safe and reassuring place for him over time. What is my personality like? Dagwood is a very friendly, almost 2-year-old male Labradoodle with a soft, submissive nature and a truly sweet heart. In familiar environments, his friendly personality shines. He warms up quickly to people and is happy to make new friends. He is leash trained in that he is comfortable wearing one and does not panic, though he does tend to pull when excited and will benefit from formal leash and obedience training. Dagwood is clean in his crate, happily goes in for treats, and has never attempted to escape, showing that he is comfortable with crate routines. We believe Dagwood would do best in a calm, low-key home with older, respectful children who understand how to give him space when needed. With the right environment, structure, and a family willing to invest in his growth, Dagwood has all the potential to become a loving, loyal, and deeply rewarding companion. How do I act when I first meet new people? In new or unfamiliar situations, Dagwood can be shy at first, especially around people he doesn’t yet know, but with patience and reassurance, he gains confidence and settles in. Other tips and tidbits: Dagwood's birthday is 10/11/2026 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Labradoodle is a charming and increasingly popular hybrid breed, originating in Australia in the late 1980s with the goal of creating a guide dog for a visually impaired individual allergic to dog hair. This delightful canine combines the best traits of its parent breeds: the intelligent Poodle (Standard) and the friendly Labrador Retriever. Physically, Labradoodles boast a range of sizes and coat types, from wavy fleece to curly wool, often shed-reduced, making them a potential option for individuals with mild allergies. Their coats come in various colors, including cream, chocolate, and black. Temperamentally, they are known for being sociable, intelligent, and trainable, making them excellent family pets. They thrive on human companionship and require moderate exercise to stay happy and healthy. While adaptable, their energy levels mean they generally prefer homes with yards over small apartments, though daily walks are essential. Common health considerations, inherited from their parent breeds, can include hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions, and certain cancers, so choosing a reputable breeder is crucial for a healthy companion.
