Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Updates: Marlin has been neutered and microchipped. He is heartworm negative and on monthly prevention now. His Foster's report that housebreaking is coming right along and he follows cues from the resident dogs. His personality is beginning to shine. He loves sitting in his foster's lap or sitting on the back of the chair looking out the window. He is very easy going and takes cues from the resident dog if playtime or lap-sharing time is not on the agenda at the moment. Not a fan of the crate but he continues to work hard on that. Marlin loves the outdoors and prefers to spend time in the fenced back yard contemplating the world. He is not a digger. He doesn't seem to have a huge interest in toys. He's just a laid back kind of guy!!! Marlin is a sweet adult terrier mix who was spotted running at large in the woods with his presumed son, a younder dog with identical markings. He was scared, hungry, skittish, and cold and required trapping, but very soon became calm and trusting when brought indoors for care and safety. Marlin gets along with other dogs. He needs to work on housetraining and carte training, but is a smart little guy who seems to be catching on quickly. Marlin is currently with a foster where he is safe, loved, and will be guided and watched so that we can learn his behaviors and personality as they unfold. Marling will be neutered in the near future and will be available for adoption once his procedure has healed. Stay tuned for updates.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
