Description
Dog Breed: Great Pyrenees (long coat). Casper is an 1-year-old male Great Pyrenees who must be neutered before adoption. He was brought to PAHS as a stray. Someone found him out in the county and tried, unsuccessfully, to locate his owner. Casper has a long, white coat that is just beautiful. He weighs 70 pounds so he is a very big fellow. Casper is friendly but very shy and timid. We believe he would be good with children; but, if you have another dog, we would require you to bring your dog to PAHS for a meet & greet with Casper. This big guy would appreciate acreage where he could be the king of his territory. Casper would also, not mind having a job, to keep him busy. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative.

They possess a natural protectiveness, which translates to a watchful eye over their families and property. While loving and tolerant with children, their size and barking tendencies make them less suited for small apartment living; a home with a yard is ideal. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, patellar luxation, and certain eye conditions, emphasizing the importance of responsible breeding. Their independent nature also means they require consistent, positive reinforcement training.
