Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. This is Jack, he is a 1 year old male neutered heeler, medium size (55.8 lbs). We are located in Henrietta Tx. He is up to date on all of his vaccines. He is house broken and a very healthy dog. He knows basic obedience but is very rebellious and opportunistic. The trainer we work with and we like to describe his behavior as on a timer. He is good and willing to work with us until he loses patients and starts biting the leash. We are being more strict with him to prevent him from chasing my cats and getting to my chickens as he has stolen some eggs and killed one of my chickens. He does protest when we put him in the kennel when we are gone. He will bark, growl, and snarl when I put him in the kennel. We have gotten advice from our trainer and so far we are managing it. He has bitten me once while at my vet office. He was very heavily sedated and I was trying to muzzle him when he bit me. He is very energetic and does require a high level of management. He does try to chew on things in the house. He loves to bring pecans in the house and makes a mess lol. **** Breed: Heeler **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2193500&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
