Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Zeus is a mellow, easygoing guy who has proven himself to be a wonderfully low-key companion in a home environment. He is potty trained, enjoys a comfortable routine, and is happiest simply being around his people. Zeus does have arthritis, which will require ongoing management with pain medication, but he doesnât let his sore joints get in the way of enjoying life. He still loves getting out, exploring, and spending time with his humans. He is incredibly social and loves meeting new people, including kids. Zeus is also a great car companion who knows how to hop in and is more than happy to snooze the ride away. During a recent foster stay, Zeus lived very successfully with both small and large dogs, showing himself to be relaxed and comfortable around canine housemates. Zeus met a pair of growling cats and was interested but very stiff during the meeting; he is likely too arthritic to give chase but if you have a dog-savvy cat and would like to give Zeus a chance, we recommend going very slow with intros. Schedule an appointment to meet Zeus at yoloshelter/dogs or email adoptyoloshelter

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
