His sweet kisses and smothering cuddles make for a companion you didn’t even know you were missing! His loyalty to his adults shines bright. Wherever you go, he goes, and he never strays too far away. Copper loves hard and deeply and always wants to be with you during play time as well or just hanging on the couch watching TV! He’ll never turn down a good treat, good belly rub and/or chew toy except for maybe an hour or two of baking in the sun! Which has proven to be his all time favorite thing! Cats and children are definitely not Copper’s forte; he does best with his adult humans and possibly one other dog! He’s going to fit right in with a home that has a fenced-in back yard or lots of walks, lots of play time, a outdoor area where he can sun bake as well as some alone time to catch up on his Z’s for the day! He’ll love anyone who loves him right back, and he appreciates the hugs and kisses from his humans! Contact Chelsea Davis at 828-747-5838 or Chelslb2001gmail today to learn more about snuggly Copper! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at petsmpravl for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.

Overview:
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
