Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Corgi / Mixed. A REAL SWEETIE PIE: Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 39 lbs. Hi, my name’s Smoochie! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control. I am soaking up all the love at the shelter and even got to spend some time in a great temporary foster home during the recent cold weather. Boy, was that fun! Is that what it’s like to have my own family? Sign me up! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I really liked the other dogs in my temp. foster home! We played, and I was respectful of the growl with the one that was a little grumpy. So, if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet! / I pretty much ignored the dog-friendly kitty in my temp. foster home. When one of the other dogs jumped towards her, I followed suit, but just in a playful way, not to be mean. All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would be with another kitty. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over, as I can be a bit jumpy. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a super sweet, loving, and smart girl who - according to my temporary foster - is about as close to a Velcro dog as you can get. I love being right next to you on the couch, in your lap, or even under your feet (yes, even while you’re cooking!). I love to be touching you – it makes me so happy. I’ll happily fall asleep while being petted and showered with love. I’m a social gal who likes to be part of whatever’s happening around the house, and I live up to my name by giving great kisses, too. I’m an expert fetcher and absolutely love playtime with my people. With the perfect mix of affection and fun, my temp. foster says I’m “going to make someone a very happy dog parent.” Could that be you? / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I will be learning lots of great commands with my trainer. In my temp. foster home, they reported that I was smart and that I picked up on things quickly. I showed that I knew ‘sit’ and I came when I was called. I’ll be tested on these things and more in the near future. I do try to steal other dogs’ treats, so if we are doing some training and treating together, just make sure I don’t try to get other dogs’ treats. I seemed to learn fast that I shouldn’t counter surf or beg for food. / I was NOT a crate fan in my temp. foster home, but I settled down once all the lights were off for the night. I preferred to sleep next to my person’s bed than in a crate. / I had just a couple of accidents in my temp. foster home before they picked up that my cue was not sitting down / walking around. Then I would go to the door with the other dogs and pretty much followed their lead at potty time. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I have lots of likes! Treat time? Great! I’ll have milk bones and chicken jerky - I love those best. Belly rubs or ear rubs … hmmmm … it’s hard to choose. I’ll take both, please! Playing with toys or fetching a ball and spending time close to my people is how I want to spend my days! / I don’t like to be away from my people or miss out on all the action around the house, and I don’t enjoy being in a crate. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am looking for a wonderful home where I will be loved for life! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
