Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). MEET ELVIS PAWSLEY!!!! Elvis is an energetic older puppy who would love an active house to call his new home! If you love to go on long walks, hikes, runs, or other adventures, Elvis would be the perfect pup to bring along. He has as much strength as he does love, so he tends to pull and jump a lot and therefore would be a great fit for someone with experience training strong dogs and may not be the best match for young children. When he's not running around exploring, we think he might also love to snuggle on the couch! My friends describe me as: playful, goofy, and communicative Elvis is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped, and seen by our vet team. For more information on Elvis or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
