Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Hi, Iâm Ruby! Iâm a shy girl at first, especially when meeting new people, but once I feel safe, I canât help but bounce around and show you how excited I am. I love playing fetch and will happily chase a ball as long as youâll throw it. I get pretty enthusiastic on my walks and sometimes pull, so I do best with a walking aide to help me stroll like the distinguished shepherd I know I am. Iâm not a fan of other dogs, so Iâd prefer to be your one-and-only at home. Iâve lived in a home before, and with a little patience and understanding, Iâll settle into a new one at my own pace. If youâre looking for a loyal, playful companion who just needs a bit of time to warm up, Iâd love to meet you!

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
