Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Husky / Mixed. Meet Augie! Augie is a 2-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix with a curious mind that shines through in the cutest ways. He’s the kind of guy who can entertain himself with just about anything — even a leash, which he’ll happily drag around as if it’s his own personal toy. Treats are Augie’s greatest motivation; he loves them so much that he sometimes forgets to chew, which only adds to his endearing personality! Augie enjoys going for strolls and would love a home that can provide regular walks and mental enrichment to keep his curious brain engaged. When it comes to other pets, Augie is dog- and cat-friendly. Very large dogs can be a bit intimidating for him at first, but with appropriate introductions, he does well and continues to gain confidence. Augie has shown slight resource guarding, specifically around food bowls, though this behavior has not been observed with toys and is manageable with structure and routine. Because of this, we are looking for a home without children or with children aged 12 and older. During visits from younger children, food and food bowls should be kept out of reach to help set Augie up for success. We are still getting to know Augie, and his profile will be updated as we learn more. Current Weight: 45lbs Adoption fee: $250 To apply: fcrspca/adopt/

Breed overview
Overview:
The Gerberian Shepsky is a hybrid of the German Shepherd Dog and Siberian Husky, emerging in North America as a modern companion with working-dog roots. Typically medium to large, they feature an athletic build, erect ears, and a dense double coat, often with striking blue or heterochromatic eyes. Their temperament blends loyalty, intelligence, and independence, making them affectionate yet occasionally headstrong. With very high energy, they thrive on daily exercise and structured training, suiting active families more than apartment living without ample outdoor time. Early socialization supports good manners with children and other pets. Notable health considerations include potential hip dysplasia and eye issues; regular vet care, weight management, and coat grooming help maintain well-being. Their typical lifespan ranges around 10–13 years, rewarding committed owners with a loyal, adventurous companion.
