Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua. Meet Dumpling! Just like her name, Dumpling is sweet, comforting, and easy to love. Dumpling is an 11-year-old small sized Chihuahua mixed breed girl with a brown rough coat and a gentle soul. She is a senior pup who is ready to enjoy a cozy and loving forever home where she can relax and be adored. At just around 5 pounds, Dumpling is the perfect size for a lap dog. A sweet girl who will love her family to the ends of the earth. Dumpling has a low energy level and a calm, affectionate personality. She loves being close to her people and is happiest being held or relaxing on the couch with someone she trusts. Dumpling has done well with other dogs and children, and she previously lived in a foster home with multiple dogs where she adjusted beautifully. She has not met a cat, so her relationship with cats is unknown at this time. Dumpling came to rescue as a stray but has shown how adaptable and loving she can be once she feels safe. Dumpling house trained as well as leash trained. She is working on her crate training. Although many dogs become reliable with house training, accidents can still occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Dumpling would do best in a calm home that offers patience, consistency, gentle exercise, and companionship as she continues to settle in and enjoy her golden years. If you are looking for a sweet, low-key companion who is happiest right by your side, Dumpling may be the perfect match. She is ready to trade the homeless life for soft blankets, quiet moments, and a family to call her own. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Dumpling is $300. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
