Dog Breed: Siberian Husky. How to Adopt Meet Medusa – Help Us Find Her a New Home Medusa just turned 4 years old last Tuesday. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. This is a heartbreaking rehoming situation. Medusa has been with her owner her entire life, but her owner is now in college and unable to find housing that allows dogs, that she can afford. This decision was not made lightly, and Medusa is deeply loved. Unfortunately, we have until the end of February to find her a new home. Medusa weighs about 55–60 pounds and is a stunning black-and-white girl with blue eyes. She’s a total crowd favorite wherever she goes. She is: • Potty trained • Kennel trained • Used to sleeping in bed at night, but she can sleep in a kennel overnight if needed Medusa does great with cats and dogs of all sizes. She is playful and energetic, so while she’s friendly, we recommend a home without young children due to her rambunctious nature. She will miss her person terribly, and we want to make this transition as gentle as possible for her by finding the right home—one that will love her as much as she deserves. The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
