Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). How to Adopt Meet Jake. Sometimes good dogs lose their homes through no fault of their own. Jake is one of them. Jake is a 2-year-old male Husky whose owner is facing very difficult times. Her family stepped in to keep him safe and loved, but now Jake needs a new forever home where he can truly belong again. Jake is a stunning red and white Husky with warm amber eyes and a personality that matches his good looks. He is sweet, affectionate, and full of life. Jake thrives on being included—he wants to go where you go, do what you do, and feel like part of a family. While he has a dog house, he clearly prefers being inside with his people, where he feels most secure and connected. He does well with kids ages 5 and up, enjoys the company of other dogs, and walks nicely on a leash. Jake has lots of energy and would be happiest with an active family, a home with other large dogs, or someone looking for a working or adventure companion. Jake is generally quiet and easygoing. He rarely barks, except for an occasional single loud bark if another dog tries to take his food—no aggression has been observed with people or other dogs. Jake’s details: 2 years old, male Husky, Red & white coat, amber eye, Sweet, social, and energetic, Good with kids (5+), dogs, and people, Loves being part of the pack, Good on leash, Vaccinated, not yet neutered The rescue will get him neutered. Jake didn’t choose to lose his home—but he’s ready to choose you. He’s looking for a family who will include him, love him, and let him be what he wants most: a loyal member of the pack. Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
