Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 550.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Zelle, or cash only. donateyorkierescuehouston or, if you prefer: our fundraising platform, Zeffy Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. Gigi's family surrendered him when the financial responsibilities of providing care for her became too much for the family. Gigi is a delightful little girl, who loves toys and can entertain herself. She is not house-broke. She will require a family willing to be patient with her and help teach her house manners. She sleeps in a kennel overnight. and she gets along with other dogs. She is cat friendly. She is NOT eligible for adoption by a SENIOR CITIZEN nor a home with children under 5 years old.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
