Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (medium coat). This sweet boy is Montana. He is a mixed breed puppy, approximately 7 months old and weighs 47 pounds. Montana was left behind when his family moved and the poor boy curled up in a chair waiting for them to come back! But that’s all behind home now and his future is bright. We will find him the kind of home he deserves! Montana is a very sweet and affectionate boy. Super friendly to everyone. He is very playful. He will chase a ball for as long as you are willing to throw it! He will need some training, but he’s a smart guy and will do anything for a treat! Montana has a wonderful temperament and would make a great family dog or perfect companion for an active individual. We recommend slightly older kids since he may be a bit too exuberant for small children. He would love a fenced in yard where he could zoom around til his hearts content! Montana is up to date on vaccines and will be neutered upon adoption. If you’d like to meet this adorable boy, please fill out an application on our website at RescueRidge. If your application is a possible match, a volunteer will get back to you to set up a meet. Montana is located in Monmouth County, NJ

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
