Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat). Location: Bardstown, KY AVAILABLE: London 3 month old female Little Ms. London is looking for a family! She is approximately 3 months old and is full of spunk and personality in a tiny body. She was found lying underneath a truck in freezing cold temperatures before a brutal storm hit in Central KY.... She was picked up by a Good Samaritan that contacted ACDRA and we were able to help this gal! Currently in a foster home, London is ready to find her perfect family! London is an active puppy. She can entertain herself when given fun interactive enrichment items with her favorite being The Woof Pupsicle! She loves the outdoors especially romping through the snow, chasing tennis balls, frisbees, and other dogs. She loves to chase, play, and rough-house with other dogs in the household. She is WICKED fast, loves to do the ZOOMIES and could potentially excel as a sport dog! She would enjoy another playful dog to live with. When given a gentle correction, she will back off and calm down. She can be a bit pushy so she could aggravate a senior or non-tolerant dog...but again she is respectful to either a human or dog correction. She loves to snuggle up on the couch next to her humans, but when it's time for the humans to go to bed, she will go to her crate and quietly sleep through the night. Being a puppy with unknown history, she's learning to go to the door when she needs to potty in her foster home. She is quick to learn and already knows the commands sit and laydown and she will go into her crate when she's asked. Visitors and sudden noises can be a bit startling for London which results in alertness and barking but she quiets down quickly - this is all part of learning what it is like to live in a house with a family! London will do best in a home with older children due to her tendency to nip at heels, living up to her breeds name. She's a smart dog that listens well. She will need continual persistent training, in order for her to reach her maximum potential. She is current on all age appropriate vaccines, flea/tick/heart worm prevention, and will be adopted out with a spay contract. Questions about London? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
