Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). Adoption Fee: 385.00. Hi y’all, my name is Snow! I don’t want to brag too much but even at 75lbs, I’m pretty strong for a husky. I’m also very food motivated with a big personality in case you couldn’t tell! I love walks and car rides as well. I love to hang out with humans and receive lots of attention. I’m looking for a home with humans I can enjoy my time with. If there are other pups in the home, I would need to meet them ahead of time and make sure we mesh but am more than happy to do so. I’ve also been told I’m pretty smart as I am already dog door trained. I look forward to meeting my forever humans soon! Crate Trained and House Trained. Picky about dog buddies! Would do best as an only dog! Better with older kids. Not fond of cats. If you're interested in fostering or adopting me, fill out an application at texashuskyrescue/apply-to-adopt/ today!

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
