Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Meet Isla Where are my German Shepherd lovers? Isla is a beautiful girl in need of a loving home that knows the breed. She is 1.5 years old & fully vetted. She is very sweet. In her previous home, she was kept crated all the time. It was not fair to her. She is crate trained and does well in her crate. She needs a home where she can play and be active. Not stuck in a crate all the time. She loves to play fetch and play in water. As with the breed, she needs stimulation and an outlet for her energy. She is a great girl. Good with other dogs and kids. She will chase cats. She is potty trained. Isla would be a great companion for the right home. If you think you might be a good fit, please fill out our adoption application. form.jotform/252557613883163

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
