Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Diesel! This 1-year-old black and white Pit Bull mix is a lively, energetic young dog who’s always on the move and constantly wagging his tail. He’s up to date on all vaccinations, fixed, microchipped, and has tested negative for heartworm. He is dog-selective and his behavior around cats is unknown. He would do best in a home without children. Diesel was confiscated by police for neglect. He can be wary of women and may take some time to build trust, so he’ll need a patient, understanding adopter who’s willing to go at his pace. Once he feels comfortable, his playful and affectionate personality really shines. He loves to run and burn off energy, making him a great fit for an active home. With consistency, patience, and the right environment, he has the potential to grow into a loyal and devoted companion. If you would like to meet any of our pets, they are available for viewing, every single day from noon until 3:30pm. If you have other dogs a meet and greet is required. Calling before a long drive is recommended to confirm availability. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
